Hi-Speed Freedom 200 overview and our opinion

Engine and gearbox

Hi-Speed fits the CBB200 engine, a single-cylinder, 4-stroke, air-cooled SOHC unit with a balance shaft. It displaces 198.8cc from a 65.5 × 59 mm bore and stroke, with a 9.25:1 compression ratio, carburettor and CDI ignition. Hi-Speed quotes 10.80 kW at 7,500 rpm and 15 Nm at 6,000 rpm, with a top speed of 100 km/h. Be aware that PakWheels lists only 11 hp for the same bike, far below the 14.5 hp that 10.80 kW converts to, so the real output is uncertain. Both electric and kick start are fitted. PakWheels lists a 5-speed gearbox and a fuel average of about 20 km/l.

Size and practicality

This is a big bike for its engine size: 2100 × 875 × 1165 mm, with a 1435 mm wheelbase and a curb weight of 147 kg. Tyres are 90/90-18 at the front and 130/90-15 at the rear, the classic cruiser combination. The 13.5-litre tank gives a reasonable range even at modest mileage. Hi-Speed does not list seat height or ground clearance, although cruisers of this shape usually have a low seat that suits shorter riders.

Equipment

There is one version. Hi-Speed confirms a front disc brake (the rear brake type is not stated), self and kick starting, and CDI ignition. PakWheels lists the colours as black, blue and red. Lighting and instrument details are not given on the official page.

Price and warranty

Hi-Speed does not publish a price or warranty on its website. PakWheels lists the bike as ‘Hi-Speed SR 200’ at Rs 500,000, and the specifications on that page match the Freedom. PakWheels also shows a separate ‘Freedom SR 200’ entry marked discontinued at Rs 486,500 based on used listings, while the official website still lists the Freedom as a current model.

Before you buy

Sit on the bike in the showroom to check the reach to the bars and pegs, because Hi-Speed does not publish the seat height, and ask the dealer which rear brake is fitted. In our opinion, a test ride on a main road is worth doing to see whether the real-world performance matches your expectations of a 200cc.

Is it worth buying?

In our opinion, the Freedom 200 is a value choice for riders who want cruiser looks, a relaxed riding position and real road presence for around Rs 5 lakh. The long wheelbase should make it stable on the highway. On the other hand, the 147 kg weight, the carburettor engine, the low 100 km/h claimed top speed and the confusion over its power output mean it is more about style than performance. Riders who want speed may prefer the Battlo 200 or Cyclone 250.
