The RM-i900 is powered by a 2000-watt motor with an 18-tube controller, the most powerful motor in Hi-Speed’s scooter line-up. Hi-Speed quotes a top speed of 65 to 75 km/h and a charging time of 3 to 4 hours, with the battery rated for 1,000 charging cycles. Hi-Speed does not state the battery voltage, capacity, chemistry or range for either version, which is a significant gap; PakWheels lists a 125 km range, but Hi-Speed has not confirmed it.
The scooter measures 1850 × 730 × 1100 mm and rides on 90/70-12 tubeless tyres, with disc brakes at both ends. That is a full-size scooter body similar to Hi-Speed’s RM-i100. Ground clearance, weight and seat height are not listed on the official page, so sit on the scooter at the showroom to check the fit.
Both the RM-i900 and the RM-i900 Plus have LED headlights with daytime running lights, front and rear disc brakes and tubeless tyres. Strangely, Hi-Speed’s two product pages show exactly the same specification table, so the website does not explain what the Plus adds. It may be a styling or equipment upgrade; ask the dealer to show you both side by side before choosing.
Hi-Speed lists an 18-month warranty on the motor and an 18-month warranty on the battery, shorter than the 36-month battery cover on the Ninja and Victor. Prices are not published on the official site. PakWheels lists the RM-i900 at Rs 299,000, while an older JS Bank store listing showed Rs 390,500. We could not find a price for the RM-i900 Plus.
A 3 to 4 hour charge means you can top up during a working day as well as overnight. As an electric scooter it needs no petrol or engine oil, but with only 18 months of battery cover, in our view it is important to ask what a replacement battery costs and how long delivery takes before you buy, since the battery is the most expensive part of any electric scooter.
In our opinion, the standard RM-i900 is the one to consider, since its price is known and the website shows no difference in specification for the Plus. Its 2000-watt motor and 65 to 75 km/h top speed make it the best Hi-Speed scooter for keeping up with city traffic on wider roads. The missing battery and range figures, and the shorter battery warranty, mean you should get the battery details in writing before you buy. Riders who value range and warranty more than speed may prefer the Victor.
