Every NH 850 uses a naturally aspirated four-cylinder, two-valve diesel of 3.9 litres with a 17:1 compression ratio. Al-Ghazi rates it at 62.5 kW (85 HP) at 2,500 rpm, with maximum torque of 291 Nm at 1,600 rpm. The specification sheet lists an 8-forward, 2-reverse constant-mesh gearbox, while the catalogue cover describes it as an 8×2 synchromesh transmission. With 18.4/15-30 rear tyres, speeds range from 3.11 to 33.9 km/h forward and 4.4 to 16 km/h in reverse. The 11-inch dual-plate dry clutch has a ceramic lining, with a pedal for the transmission and a hand lever for the PTO.
This is the largest Al-Ghazi tractor: 3,950 mm long with a 2,320 mm wheelbase, 490 mm of ground clearance and a total weight of 2,865 kg with front and rear ballast. It rides on 7.50-16 front and 18.4/15-30 rear tyres, has six adjustable track settings from 1,412 to 2,012 mm and carries 65 litres of fuel. The standard hydraulics use a Fiat gear-driven pump rated at 21.8 L/min and 195 bar, with draft and position control and a Category 1 and 2 three-point linkage. Al-Ghazi estimates maximum lift at 2,526 kg without Lift-o-Matic. The mechanical PTO runs at 540 rpm at 2,160 engine rpm on a six-spline shaft.
All versions share hydrostatic power steering, oil-immersed disc brakes, a ROPS frame, canopy, rear-view mirrors, towing hook, tachometer, temperature and fuel gauges, turn signals and a mobile charging port, according to the catalogue. The Lift-o-Matic variants add float and precision control, with an estimated rear lift of 2,354 kg at the lower links. The ECO versions are the lower-priced editions; the official catalogue lists the same specification for them as for the regular 850, although the ECO photographs show tractors without a canopy. The electrical system is 12-volt with a 110/120 Ah battery and a 3.5 kW starter, and the front axle is an inverted-U, telescoping, centre-pivoting design.
Al-Ghazi does not publish warranty terms on its website or in the catalogue, so get the warranty from the dealer in writing.
Opinion: the 850 ECO with Lift-o-Matic at Rs 4,000,000 looks like the best value, giving the float and precision hydraulics for Rs 150,000 less than the regular Lift-o-Matic. Buyers who only need draft and position control can save more with the 850 ECO at Rs 3,815,000, but should confirm with the dealer exactly what the ECO versions leave out.
