The NH 640 is the first four-cylinder tractor in the Al-Ghazi range. Its New Holland 8045.06 engine is a 4-stroke direct-injection diesel of 3,613 cc, rated at 75 HP at the flywheel, with 24.9 kgm of torque at 1,400 rpm. Al-Ghazi lists a flywheel-type dynamic balancer, an oil cooler, a five-bearing crankshaft and two power outlets for a hydraulic pump. The gearbox has eight forward and two reverse speeds with constant-mesh gears, synchromesh on 3rd, 4th, 7th and 8th, a double control lever and a pedal-operated differential lock. The 11-inch dual-plate dry clutch uses a pedal for the transmission and a hand lever for the PTO.
At 2,070 kg and 3,200 mm long, with a 2,070 mm wheelbase, the 640 is noticeably bigger than the three-cylinder models, and it has more ground clearance at 520 mm under the front axle. Track can be set in eight positions front and rear. It uses 7.50-16 front and 16.9/14-30 rear tyres and a 54-litre fuel tank. The lift has draft and position control, a pump rated at 24.8 L/min at 2,400 engine rpm, sway chains and a Category I-II linkage, with a maximum lifting capacity of 1,650 kg. The fully independent PTO runs at 540 rpm at 2,160 engine rpm. Minimum turning radius is 3.4 m with brakes and 3.7 m without.
The NH 640 comes in one version with hydro-assisted power steering, a seat with parallelogram suspension adjustable to driver weight, three-position headlights with parking, low and high beam, rear parking lights, direction indicators, and warning lights for oil pressure and battery charging. The electrical system is 12-volt with a 108 Ah battery. Brakes are dry band type, mechanically operated, with a manual parking lever. The fender is a square type with a flat top, the hood is side-hinged, and the front grill removes easily for access to the air cleaner and battery. A high-speed PTO running at engine speed is listed as an option for high-speed implements.
Warranty terms are not published on the official website or in the catalogue; confirm them with the dealer in writing.
There is only one variant. Opinion: the 640 makes sense for farmers who regularly pull heavier implements such as larger rotavators, ploughs and threshers and want a four-cylinder engine, but its lift capacity is the same as the cheaper Ghazi, so buyers who mainly need lifting power may not need to spend the extra Rs 691,080.
