Engine and gearbox

The NACL 150 uses a 149cc air-cooled petrol engine rated at 8.5 kW, about 11.4 hp, at 8,000 rpm, with a multi-plate wet clutch. New Asia quotes fuel economy of 24 to 28 km per litre and a top speed of 60 km/h. The 18-litre fuel tank is large for this class, so a full tank should last a long working day. New Asia does not publish a torque figure.

Size and practicality

This is New Asia’s featured cargo loader, and the company says it can carry loads of up to 800 kg. That makes it a practical tool for shopkeepers, market traders, delivery services and small contractors who need to move goods through narrow streets where a pickup will not fit. New Asia does not publish load-bed dimensions, overall size or tyre size, so measure the bed and check the tyre ply rating before you buy. In our opinion, staying within the 800 kg rating will help the frame, suspension and tyres last longer.

Equipment by variant

New Asia lists four versions of the NACL 150: v1, V2, V3 and V4. The official website shows each one in a 360-degree viewer but does not describe the differences in words. It also publishes no colour names or feature list. View the versions at a dealer and ask what changes between them, such as body style, load-bed design or trim, before you choose.

Choose the version whose load bed suits your goods, and if two versions share the same mechanical specification, take the cheaper one. Ask the dealer whether the 800 kg rating applies to all four versions.
