Engine and gearbox

Every Oshan X7 uses the same 1,499 cc turbocharged petrol engine from Changan’s NE15TG series, which the company says meets Euro 6 emission rules. It produces 185 hp (138 kW) and 300 Nm of torque and drives the front wheels through a 7-speed wet dual-clutch automatic with manual shifting. Drivers can choose Eco, Comfort, Sport and Custom modes and three steering weights. Start-stop technology, an electric parking brake with auto hold, and hill hold and hill descent control are standard. Changan does not publish an official fuel average for Pakistan.

Size and practicality

The official site gives a 2,786 mm wheelbase, a 55-litre fuel tank and 225/55 R19 alloy wheels. PakWheels lists the body at 4,730 mm long, 1,870 mm wide and 1,720 mm tall with 200 mm of ground clearance. The FutureSense is offered with five or seven seats, while the Comfort and Black Edition are seven-seaters. Changan quotes up to 1,407 litres of luggage space with seats folded, and a powered tailgate with load sensing is standard.

Equipment by variant

All versions get four airbags (front plus front side), ABS with EBD and brake assist, stability and traction control, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, a built-in dashcam, tyre pressure monitoring, a panoramic sunroof, keyless entry with push-button and remote engine start, a 10-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch touchscreen with phone mirroring and navigation, automatic climate control, rear AC vents and a six-way power driver’s seat. The FutureSense adds radar adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, a power passenger seat and heated and ventilated front seats; the Comfort has standard cruise control and a manual passenger seat. The Black Edition is a FutureSense 7-Seat with a black-out grille, black turbine alloys, an all-black interior and Sony-branded speakers.

The official Oshan X7 pages do not publish warranty terms, so confirm coverage with a dealer.

Which variant to buy

In our opinion, the FutureSense is worth the extra Rs 475,000 over the Comfort if you can stretch, because automatic emergency braking and heated and ventilated seats are genuinely useful. Choose the 5-Seat FutureSense if you rarely carry more than five people, or the 7-Seat for bigger families. The Black Edition adds only styling and speakers for another Rs 100,000. At the time of checking, Changan was also advertising limited-time discounted prices on all Oshan X7 variants, so ask your dealer which price applies.
