Engine and gearbox

The Alsvin comes with two petrol engines. The entry Comfort variant uses a 1.37-litre BlueCore engine making 99 hp and 135 Nm, paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox that has a gear-shift reminder. The Lumiere and Black Edition use a 1.48-litre BlueCore engine with 105 hp and 145 Nm, driving through a 5-speed dual-clutch automatic with a sport mode and manual (Tiptronic) shifting. Both engines are listed by Changan as Euro-5 compliant, four-cylinder, DOHC units with dual variable valve timing. The 1.5-litre variants also get start-stop technology, which switches the engine off at idle to save fuel. Changan does not publish an official fuel average on its website.

Size and practicality

Changan lists the Alsvin at 4,390 mm long, 1,725 mm wide and 1,468 mm tall, with a 40-litre fuel tank and five seats. That makes it slightly longer than many cars in the small-sedan class. Suspension is MacPherson struts at the front and a torsion beam at the rear, with ventilated front discs and rear drums. All variants ride on 15-inch alloy wheels.

Equipment by variant

Every Alsvin gets dual front airbags, ABS, ISOFIX child seat mounts, a reverse camera, rear parking sensors, electric power steering, steering-mounted audio controls, black leather seats, air conditioning, power windows, LED daytime running lights and projector headlamps with height adjustment. The Comfort has a 7-inch touchscreen. The Lumiere adds a floating 10.4-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Wi-Fi and Google Maps navigation, plus tyre pressure monitoring, cruise control, heated side mirrors and an electric sunroof, which Changan says is unique in its class in Pakistan. The Black Edition is mechanically the same as the Lumiere but adds black alloy wheels, a black roof and black mirrors and door handles.

Warranty

The official Alsvin page does not publish warranty terms, so buyers should confirm coverage with an authorised Changan dealer before booking.

Which variant to buy

In our opinion, the Lumiere is the variant most buyers should choose. For Rs 710,000 more than the Comfort, it brings the bigger and more powerful engine, the automatic gearbox and most of the useful technology, including smartphone mirroring, cruise control and tyre pressure monitoring. The Comfort makes sense only if you want the lowest price and are happy with a manual. The Black Edition costs Rs 100,000 more than the Lumiere for cosmetic changes only, so we would pick it only if you like its look.
