Zongfa G3

Battery and motor

The Zongfa G3, listed on the official website as the G1-3 W, is an electric three-wheeler (trike) from ZhongFa EV. Its price is shown as TBA (to be announced), so it is not yet on sale at a published price. It uses an 800 W brushless hub motor with an intelligent power-saving controller, and ZhongFa EV lists a 60V 32Ah battery available as either lead-acid or lithium iron phosphate (LFP). Official figures are a top speed of 45 km/h, a range of 50 to 60 km and a charging time of 3 to 4 hours. It is rated to climb a 20-degree gradient.

Size and practicality

The G3 measures 1600 mm long, 700 mm wide and 1050 mm high, and its net weight is quoted at 85 to 95 kg. It rides on 10-inch tyres and has a hydraulic shock absorber at the front. Load capacity is up to 200 kg, and ZhongFa EV highlights cushioned seats for the rider and passenger plus a front storage compartment for groceries, tools or personal items. In our opinion, the three-wheel layout should give extra stability at low speeds, which may suit older riders or those who are not confident on two wheels.

Equipment

The official page lists an LED headlight, rear light and turn indicators, a digital LCD display showing speed, battery level and odometer, a reverse function, a USB charging port and the front storage area. Braking is by drums at the front and rear. Colours are sky blue, red, sea green and grey.

Warranty

ZhongFa EV states that its vehicles carry warranty cover on the motor, battery and controller, but no warranty period has been published for the G3. Once sales begin, check whether the warranty terms differ between the lead-acid and LFP battery options, and whether the battery is covered for the same period as the motor.

Which version to buy

One version is listed, but with a choice of battery chemistry. In our opinion, the LFP battery is the better choice if it is offered at a reasonable premium, because lithium batteries generally last longer and weigh less than lead-acid units. Ask the dealer which battery each quoted price includes. The G3 is aimed at short, slow trips around the neighbourhood, so it is not a replacement for a motorcycle on busy main roads. Wait for the official price before comparing it with two-wheel scooters such as the N1 or Y108.
