Super Power SP 70 Tokyo overview and our opinion

Engine and gearbox

The SP 70 Tokyo uses a 78cc, four-stroke, air-cooled engine with an overhead camshaft. Super Power lists a bore and stroke of 47.0 x 41.4 mm and a compression ratio of 8.8:1, the same as its other 70cc bikes. Drive goes through a four-speed gearbox with a wet plate clutch. Unlike the other models, the Tokyo’s official page does not give power, torque or fuel-economy figures, so we have not listed them. Other websites quote different engine data for the Tokyo, so treat any figures you see elsewhere with care.

Size and practicality

The Tokyo has its own dimensions: 1,897 mm long, 751 mm wide and 1,014 mm tall, making it slightly longer and taller than the SP 70 Dollar. Dry weight is 82 kg, so it remains easy to handle. Ground clearance is listed as 136 mm, a realistic figure for Pakistani roads and speed breakers. The fuel tank is smaller than on the other 70cc models at 8.5 litres. Tyres are 2.25-17 4PR at the front and 2.50-17 4PR at the rear, so the rear tyre is a little wider. The frame is a backbone type, like the rest of the 70cc range.

Equipment

The Tokyo is sold in one version, in red or black, at Rs 200,000. Super Power’s product page does not list equipment, so it does not confirm items such as a self-starter, alloy wheels or lighting type. Both colours are currently marked out of stock on the official site, so check availability and delivery time with your dealer before booking.

Warranty

No warranty terms are published on Super Power’s website. Confirm the coverage period, included parts and free service schedule with the dealer. Because the Tokyo is out of stock, also ask whether the warranty and price will stay the same when new stock arrives, and get the booking terms in writing if you pay an advance.

Which version to buy

There is only one version. In our opinion the Tokyo is difficult to justify at Rs 200,000, because it costs Rs 56,000 more than the SP 70 Premium Self Start and the official site gives no power figures or equipment list to explain the gap. Its more realistic ground clearance and wider rear tyre may suit riders on rough roads, but most buyers will get better value from the Premium Self Start. If you are set on the Tokyo, wait for stock and inspect the bike first.
