The JapTECH is Ravi’s true 70cc-class bike. Ravi’s price list describes a 72cc single-cylinder, four-stroke engine built with what it calls new Japanese technology. Ravi does not publish power, torque, gearbox or fuel-economy figures for the JapTECH, and we found no reliable third-party figures specific to this model, so they are left out. At 72cc, its engine is smaller than the 78cc unit in the Hamsafar Plus and Premium R1.
Ravi has not published dimensions, weight or fuel tank size for the JapTECH. It uses Ravi’s own sheet-metal frame, which the company promotes as heavier and more durable than competitors’ frames. Ravi also lists special premium-quality shock absorbers and high-quality wheel hubs, which suggests the focus is on ride comfort and durability on rough roads. Confirm the tank size, seat height and tyre sizes at the dealership before buying.
The JapTECH comes in one specification at Rs 111,000 ex-factory. Apart from the upgraded shocks and wheel hubs, Ravi does not list extra equipment such as self start, alloy wheels or a disc brake, so expect a basic commuter specification unless your dealer confirms otherwise.
Ravi gives the JapTECH a warranty of 10 months or 10,000 km, the same as its other petrol bikes.
There is only one version. The JapTECH’s pricing is unusual: at Rs 111,000 it costs Rs 2,500 more than the Hamsafar Plus, which has a bigger 78cc engine and a published 9.5-litre tank. In our opinion, it only makes sense if you specifically value the Japanese-technology engine and the upgraded suspension and hubs that Ravi highlights, or if your dealer offers a better deal on it. Riders who just want the cheapest Ravi should pick the Hamsafar Plus, and those who want more style can have the Premium R1 for only Rs 500 more. Against rivals such as the Honda CD 70, United US 70 and Road Prince RP 70, the JapTECH costs less than the Honda, while the Honda offers a far larger service network and better resale value. Ask for a test ride and the full specification sheet before booking.
