The Hamsafar Electric is Ravi’s battery-powered version of its 70cc-style commuter, sold as the E70. Ravi’s price list says it uses a 1,000 W imported motor running on 60 V, 20 Ah batteries, which the list describes as dry batteries even though the variant names refer to lithium. Ravi quotes a top speed of 60 to 70 km/h, a range of up to 60 km per charge and a full charge in 3 to 3.5 hours. There is no gearbox to shift and no petrol or engine-oil changes to worry about.
Ravi has not published dimensions or weight for the Hamsafar Electric. It is built on Ravi’s sheet-metal frame. A 60 km range is enough for most daily city commutes, but in our view it is on the low side for riders covering longer distances, so measure your daily trip before buying and allow for range dropping with a passenger, in heavy traffic or as the battery ages. With a 3 to 3.5-hour charge time, overnight charging at home is the practical routine.
There are two versions. The E70 Lithium 20A costs Rs 185,000 and the E70 Lithium 26A costs Rs 200,000 ex-factory. Ravi’s published details (60 V 20 Ah battery, 1,000 W motor, range and charging time) are listed for the 20A version. The price list does not spell out what changes on the 26A, though the name suggests a larger battery, so ask the dealer for the 26A’s battery capacity and range before paying the extra Rs 15,000. Ravi lists complete LED lighting.
The official warranty is 6 months or 10,000 km, shorter than the 10 months Ravi offers on its petrol bikes. Ravi does not publish a separate battery warranty. Clarify this before buying, because the battery is the most expensive part of an electric bike.
In our opinion, the 20A is the sensible choice for short, predictable city commutes, as it is cheaper and its figures are the ones Ravi actually publishes. Consider the 26A only if the dealer can confirm in writing that it gives a meaningfully longer range. Rivals such as the MS Jaguar E-70 cost more but advertise a longer range and a five-year battery warranty, so compare range and battery cover carefully rather than price alone.
