The Ravi Hamsafar Plus is sold as a 70cc-class commuter, but Ravi’s own price list says it uses a 78cc single-cylinder, four-stroke engine. That gives it slightly more displacement than the usual 70cc bikes it competes with. Third-party spec sheets from PakWheels list about 7 hp and 5.4 Nm at 6,500 rpm, a four-speed manual gearbox, kick starting and a top speed of around 100 km/h. PakWheels quotes fuel economy of about 40 km per litre. Ravi describes the bike as very fuel efficient but does not publish an official mileage figure.
Ravi states a 9.5-litre fuel tank and a dry weight of 82 kg. The bike is built on Ravi’s own sheet-metal frame, which the company promotes as heavier and sturdier than rivals’ frames. Third-party figures put the length at 1,885 mm, the wheelbase at 1,210 mm, the seat height at 760 mm and the ground clearance at 135 mm, with 17-inch wheels (2.25 front and 2.50 rear tyres) and drum brakes front and rear. In other words, it has the familiar size of a Pakistani 70cc commuter, so seat covers, carriers and other accessories should be easy to find.
The Hamsafar Plus is sold in one specification at Rs 108,500 ex-factory. Equipment is basic: kick start, spoke wheels and drum brakes. Ravi does not offer self start, alloy wheels or a disc brake on this model. Buyers who want self start need to step up to the Premium Special, Ravi’s only petrol model with that feature on the official price list.
Ravi’s official price list gives a warranty of 10 months or 10,000 km. Keep the warranty booklet and have the bike serviced at an authorised Ravi dealer during this period.
There is only one version, so the real question is whether to choose it over Ravi’s own Premium R1 or a rival 70cc bike. In our opinion, the Hamsafar Plus makes most sense for buyers who want the lowest price in Ravi’s petrol range and a slightly bigger engine than standard 70cc bikes. The Premium R1 uses the same engine size and adds sportier styling for Rs 3,000 more. The Honda CD 70 remains the benchmark for resale value and service network, so buyers who plan to sell within two or three years may find the Honda a safer choice despite its higher price. Check spare-parts availability with your local Ravi dealer before booking, as Ravi’s network is smaller than Honda’s.
