Hi-Speed RM-i700 overview and our opinion

Battery and motor

The RM-i700 uses a 1500-watt motor with an 18-tube controller, and Hi-Speed quotes a top speed of 50 to 55 km/h. Charging takes 3 to 4 hours, which is quick, and the battery is rated for 1,000 cycles. Hi-Speed does not give the battery voltage, capacity, chemistry or range. PakWheels and Gari.pk list about 100 km of range and a 5-hour charge, but these are not Hi-Speed figures.

Size and practicality

The scooter measures 1772 × 723 × 1152 mm and uses 80/90-12 tubeless tyres with disc brakes front and rear. That makes it a mid-size scooter, a little longer than the RM-i500 but shorter than the RM-i900. Weight, seat height and ground clearance are not published by Hi-Speed.

Equipment

There is one version. Hi-Speed lists LED headlight and daytime running lights, twin disc brakes and tubeless tyres. The official product photos show black, grey and white finishes, and Gari.pk also mentions blue, but Hi-Speed does not name the colours. Features such as reverse mode, cruise control and a USB port are not mentioned on the official page.

Warranty and price

Hi-Speed gives an 18-month motor warranty; the battery warranty is not stated on this page. Hi-Speed does not publish prices. PakWheels’ price list and Gari.pk show Rs 260,000, PakWheels’ model page shows Rs 280,000, and an older JS Bank store listing showed Rs 308,000, so confirm the current figure.

Charging and running costs

With a 3 to 4 hour charging time, the RM-i700 can be topped up during a working day as well as overnight from a normal socket. Like any electric scooter it needs no petrol, engine oil or tuning, so everyday running costs are low. The battery is the biggest future expense, and because Hi-Speed does not publish its type or warranty for this model, we suggest asking the dealer for the battery details, the warranty and the price of a replacement before you buy. It is also worth checking where the nearest Hi-Speed service point is.

Is it worth buying?

In our opinion, the RM-i700 is a good middle ground for riders who want more speed than the 1000-watt scooters without paying for the RM-i900. The 3 to 4 hour charge and twin disc brakes are clear strengths. The big question is the battery: without published capacity, chemistry or range, it is hard to compare it fairly with the Victor, which costs about Rs 35,000 more but comes with a fully documented 76.8V LFP battery, up to 100 km of claimed range and a 36-month battery warranty.
