Hi-Speed RM-i100 overview and our opinion

Battery and motor

The RM-i100 uses a 1000-watt motor with a 12-tube controller and has a claimed top speed of 50 km/h. Hi-Speed says charging takes 4 to 6 hours and that the battery is good for 1,000 charging cycles. The official page does not give the battery voltage, capacity, chemistry or range, so ask the dealer for these figures before buying. Other price sites quote ranges, but Hi-Speed has not confirmed them.

Size and practicality

At 1850 × 760 × 1095 mm, the RM-i100 is one of the larger scooters in the range, closer in size to a 125cc motorcycle than to a small moped. It runs on 110/70-12 tubeless tyres, the widest fitted to any Hi-Speed scooter, which should give a planted feel. Weight, seat height and ground clearance are not published.

Equipment

There is one version. Hi-Speed lists disc brakes at both ends, LED headlight and daytime running lights, and tubeless tyres. The official page does not mention reverse mode, cruise control, a USB port or a digital meter, unlike the newer Ninja and Victor pages, so check the scooter in the showroom to see what is fitted.

Warranty and price

Hi-Speed gives an 18-month warranty on the motor. The battery warranty is not stated for this model, so get it in writing. Hi-Speed does not publish prices; PakWheels lists the RM-i100 at Rs 225,000.

Charging and running costs

A 4 to 6 hour charge means you can top up overnight or during a working day from a normal socket. As an electric scooter the RM-i100 needs no petrol, engine oil or tuning, so day-to-day running costs are low. The biggest long-term expense will be the battery, and because Hi-Speed does not state the battery warranty for this model, we suggest asking the dealer for the battery warranty, the battery type and the cost of a replacement before you sign. Also check where the nearest Hi-Speed service point is, since electric scooters need specialised diagnosis when the controller or motor develops a fault.

Is it worth buying?

In our opinion, the RM-i100 suits riders who want a roomy, stable electric scooter with proper twin disc brakes and wide tyres, and who charge at home. The 4 to 6 hour charging time is reasonable. The problem is value: for a similar price the Ninja Eco offers a 60V LFP battery, cruise control, reverse mode and a 36-month battery warranty, all clearly published by Hi-Speed. Unless you prefer the RM-i100’s bigger body and wider tyres, we would compare the two carefully before choosing.
