Hi-Speed Cyclone 250 overview and our opinion

Engine and gearbox

The Cyclone uses the PR250-A engine, a single-cylinder, 4-stroke, air-cooled unit with an inclined cylinder and an overhead camshaft. It displaces 249.6cc with a 9.2:1 compression ratio, and unlike Hi-Speed’s smaller bikes it has electronic fuel injection with ECU control. Hi-Speed quotes 14 kW (about 18.8 hp) and 18 Nm at 6,000 rpm, with a top speed of 115 km/h. Starting is electric. Hi-Speed does not give the gear count; PakWheels lists a 6-speed gearbox and a fuel average of about 40 km/l.

Size and practicality

It measures 2060 × 835 × 1105 mm, with a 1380 mm wheelbase, a low 715 mm seat height and 145 mm of ground clearance. Curb weight is 150 kg and the fuel tank holds 13 litres. The bike rides on aluminium wheels with tubeless tyres: 110/80-18 at the front and a wide 140/90-15 at the rear. The low seat makes it one of the easier 250s for shorter riders to manage at a standstill.

Equipment

Hi-Speed lists a single version with disc brakes front and rear, fuel injection, electric start, aluminium wheels and tubeless tyres. Some third-party sites claim dual-channel ABS, and one seller lists separate ABS and non-ABS versions, but Hi-Speed’s own specification table does not mention ABS, so we have not listed it. Ask the dealer to show you the ABS warning light if this matters to you.

Price and warranty

Hi-Speed does not publish prices or warranty terms. PakWheels lists the Cyclone 250 at Rs 860,000. Other sources disagree: a PakWheels article from the bike’s launch quoted Rs 775,000, dealer adverts show Rs 7.6 to 7.7 lakh, and one retailer lists Rs 770,000 without ABS and Rs 870,000 with ABS. Get a written quote before you pay.

Before you buy

Because this is a fuel-injected bike, ask the dealer where it can be serviced and whether diagnostic equipment for the EFI system is available in your city. In our opinion, also check the price of rear tyres in the 140/90-15 size, which are less common than standard commuter sizes, and get the warranty terms in writing.

Is it worth buying?

In our opinion, the Cyclone 250 is the most modern Hi-Speed petrol bike thanks to fuel injection, and it offers a lot of cruiser for the money: a 250cc engine, a low seat, tubeless tyres and disc brakes. It suits riders who want a relaxed highway bike with presence. The doubts are the unclear ABS status and the wide spread of quoted prices, so negotiate carefully and confirm the exact specification on your invoice.
