Engine and gearbox

The FAW Carrier is a small pickup-style mini truck with a 970cc four-cylinder petrol engine (model DA465QA, OHC with electronic fuel injection). FAW quotes 60 PS at 5,200 rpm and 84 Nm of torque between 3,000 and 3,500 rpm. Power goes to the rear wheels through a five-speed synchromesh manual gearbox, and the top speed is listed as 110 km/h. FAW’s Pakistani website does not publish a fuel economy figure for the Carrier.

Size and practicality

The Carrier is 4,260 mm long, 1,475 mm wide and 1,890 mm tall, on a 2,550 mm wheelbase with 156 mm of ground clearance. The cargo bed is 2,460 mm long, 1,378 mm wide and 355 mm deep. FAW rates the payload at 1,000 kg, with a kerb weight of 865 kg and a gross vehicle weight of 1,950 kg. The cab seats two, the minimum turning radius is 4.5 metres and the fuel tank holds 37 litres. Suspension uses coil springs at the front and leaf springs at the rear. Brakes are discs in front and drums at the back, and the truck rides on 165/70R13 tyres. It is the smallest truck in FAW’s Pakistani line-up.

Equipment

The official website lists one version, the Carrier Standard, at Rs 1,139,000 ex-factory. That price includes 17% GST but not freight. Standard equipment includes a heater, fabric seat covers, sun visors, front door storage pockets, a glove console, an AM/FM radio with USB, mud flaps and outside mirrors on both sides. Safety equipment is basic: front three-point seatbelts, a front tow hook and a load-sensing proportioning valve for the rear brakes. Front fog lamps are not fitted. Diamond White is the only colour shown.

Warranty

FAW’s Pakistani website does not state the Carrier’s warranty. Buyers should get the warranty terms in writing from the dealer before paying.

Which variant to buy

Only the Standard variant appears on the official site, so the choice is simple. In our view, the Carrier suits shopkeepers, distributors and small delivery businesses that need a light, easy-to-park load carrier for short city trips rather than long highway runs. We also think buyers should compare it carefully with rivals on after-sales support, because parts availability matters more than purchase price over a commercial vehicle’s working life. The published price still refers to 17% GST, and FAW’s website does not appear to have been updated recently. Before booking, we recommend confirming the current price, stock and delivery time with an authorised FAW dealer.
