Millat MF 235

Engine and gearbox

The MF 235 uses the same 2.5-litre, three-cylinder AD3.152 diesel as the MF 240. Millat rates it at 50 hp (BS) at 2,250 rpm with 172 Nm of torque at 1,400 rpm, and estimates PTO output at 44 hp. The engine is naturally aspirated with direct injection, an oil-bath air cleaner and dual high-capacity fuel filters. Power goes through a dual clutch to an 8-forward, 2-reverse sliding-spur gearbox. On the standard 12.4/11-24 rear tyres the top road speed is 25 km/h, and first gear crawls along at 2.3 km/h for slow field work.

Size and practicality

This is the smallest tractor in Millat’s range. It is 3,210 mm long, 1,585 mm wide and 1,940 mm tall to the top of the exhaust, with a 1,870 mm wheelbase and 325 mm of ground clearance under the sump. It weighs 1,570 kg with full fuel, oil and water, and the turning circle without brakes is 7,050 mm. Front track adjusts from 1,327 to 2,105 mm and rear track from 1,490 to 1,891 mm, which helps when working between tree rows. The fuel tank holds 50 litres. Tyres are 5.50-16 at the front and 12.4/11-24 at the rear, smaller than those on the MF 240.

Equipment

There is one version. The hydraulics offer draft, position and response control with constant pumping, and the three-point linkage lifts 1,415 kg at the lower-link ends. The live PTO runs at 540 rpm at 1,789 engine rpm, suitable for tube wells, threshers, rotavators and lawn mowers according to Millat. Steering is manual and braking is by mechanical outboard drum brakes. Standard kit includes a weight frame, tool box with tools, a USB port, rear-view mirror, spring-suspension seat, shell-type fenders, a wider heat shield and a maintenance-free 88 Ah battery. Front weights, a swinging drawbar, pintle hook and 9-hole drawbar are optional extras.

Warranty

Millat’s MF 235 specification sheet does not state a warranty period, so ask the dealer for the current terms in writing before booking.

Which version to buy

With a single variant, the real choice is between the MF 235 and the MF 240, which shares the same engine, gearbox and hydraulics for Rs 157,320 more. Our view: the MF 235 makes sense if you mainly work in orchards, gardens or narrow plots where its lower height and narrower body matter, or if you simply want the cheapest new Millat. For general field work and trolley haulage, the MF 240’s bigger 12.4/11-28 rear tyres and higher top speed make it the more flexible buy. Neither has power steering or oil-immersed brakes; if those matter to you, look at the MF 260 Deluxe instead.
