Engine and gearbox

All United auto rickshaws share a 198cc, four-stroke, water-cooled engine with a 63mm bore and 63.5mm stroke. It drives through a 4-speed gearbox with a reverse gear and a multi-plate wet clutch. Unlike United’s motorcycle rickshaw, it can be started with either a kick lever or a self-starter, and it runs on a 12-volt battery. The fuel is listed as petrol. United does not publish power, torque or fuel economy figures, so ask the dealer or existing operators for a realistic daily fuel cost.

Size and practicality

Front suspension uses a shock absorber and the rear uses leaf springs, a common layout for carrying weight. The fuel tank is small at 5 litres, so drivers on long shifts should expect to refuel often. United does not publish dimensions, kerb weight or tyre sizes for these models. The 3 seater is shown with a closed body, while the 6 seater comes with either an open body or a closed body.

Equipment by variant

There are three versions: the 3 Seater (closed body), the 6 Seater Closed Body and the 6 Seater Open Body. United gives the same specification table for all of them, so the engine, gearbox, reverse gear, suspension, tank and starting system are identical. The differences are the number of seats and whether the passenger area is closed or open.

Price and warranty

United does not publish an ex-factory price list for its three-wheelers on its website, and the product pages do not state any warranty period. As a rough guide, gari.pk lists PKR 222,000 for the 3 Seater, PKR 225,000 for the 6 Seater Closed Body and PKR 231,000 for the 6 Seater Open Body, but these date from 2022; a newer site puts the 6 Seater Closed Body at about PKR 830,000. The customer service page lists a nationwide warranty dealer network and an aftersales helpline in Lahore. Before paying a booking amount, ask an authorised United dealer for the current price, delivery time and warranty terms in writing.

Which variant to buy

Our view: the 3 Seater suits city drivers who carry one to three passengers and want a body that is easier to manoeuvre and park, though United does not publish its size. The 6 Seater versions make more sense on shared routes where filling more seats per trip brings in more fares. Between the two 6 seaters, the closed body offers passengers more protection from rain, dust and winter cold, while the open body may be cooler in summer and easier to get in and out of on short hops. Check local route permits too, as rules on six-seat rickshaws can differ between cities. Compare dealer quotations for all three before deciding.
