Engine and gearbox

The MINI Cooper 5-Door is the longer, five-door version of the petrol Cooper, and it is sold in Pakistan in one variant, the Cooper C. It uses a 1.5-litre three-cylinder MINI TwinPower Turbo petrol engine that produces 115 kW (154 bhp) and 230 Nm. Power goes through a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. MINI quotes 0–100 km/h in 8.0 seconds and a top speed of 225 km/h. Official fuel economy and fuel tank figures are not published on the Pakistani website.

Size and practicality

At 4,036 mm long with a 2,567 mm wheelbase, the 5-Door is 160 mm longer than the three-door petrol Cooper. The extra length goes into rear legroom (821 mm against 783 mm in the three-door) and boot space. The boot holds 275 litres, or up to 925 litres with the 60:40 rear seats folded. MINI’s own FAQ says it carries up to five people, and the rear doors make it much easier to fit child seats and get passengers in and out. The turning circle is 11.4 m, so it remains easy to manoeuvre in town.

Equipment

Inside is the same 240 mm circular OLED touchscreen used in other new MINIs, which works as both the instrument display and the infotainment screen, with cloud navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and the “Hey MINI” voice assistant. A row of toggle switches controls the gear selector, parking brake and MINI Experience Modes, which change the cabin lighting and sound. MINI lists collision warning with brake intervention, lane departure warning, lane change warning, crossing traffic warning and speed limit display as standard, with adaptive cruise control and a head-up display as options. LED headlights and tail lamps and 16–18 inch alloy wheels are part of the design. Check the final Pakistani specification with Dewan Motors, because parts of the website are shared with another market.

No warranty terms are published on the official MINI Pakistan website, so confirm the cover with the dealer before you book.

Price and which to buy

The Cooper 5-Door costs PKR 24,500,000 ex-factory, which is PKR 900,000 more than the three-door Cooper C. In our opinion that premium is worth paying if you regularly carry rear passengers. However, the electric MINI Aceman SE offers five doors, more power and a slightly bigger boot for PKR 20,500,000, so the 5-Door mainly makes sense for buyers who want petrol power because they cannot charge at home. Remember that the final rupee price is tied to the exchange rate at the time of payment.
