The MG4 EV Urban is a city-focused version of MG’s electric hatchback. It uses a 43 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery and a single electric motor producing 110 kW (about 148 hp) and 250 Nm, enough for 0–100 km/h in 9 seconds according to MG. The claimed range is 316 km on the WLTP combined cycle. Charging uses a CCS Type 2 connector: the on-board AC charger accepts 6.6 kW, and DC fast charging peaks at 82 kW, taking the battery from 10 to 80 percent in about 28 minutes at 25°C. There is a battery thermal management system, one-pedal driving, four regeneration settings and four drive modes including Sport. Vehicle-to-load (V2L) lets you power external devices from the battery.
The MG4 EV Urban is 4,395 mm long, 1,842 mm wide and 1,549 mm tall, with a long 2,750 mm wheelbase and 130 mm of running clearance. Boot space is 382 litres including 98 litres of underfloor storage, expanding to 1,266 litres with the 40/60 split rear seats folded. It rides on 17-inch alloy wheels with 205/50 R17 tyres and a repair kit rather than a spare.
There is a single, well-equipped version. Safety includes seven airbags (with a far-side airbag), stability control, hill start assist, auto hold, tyre pressure monitoring, a 540-degree camera system with transparent chassis view and rear parking sensors. MG Pilot adds adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist, blind spot detection, rear cross traffic alert and braking, door open warning, driver monitoring and child presence detection, and MG advertises a 5-star ANCAP rating. Comfort features include keyless entry, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a 6-way electric driver’s seat, automatic climate control, rear air vents and ambient lighting. The cabin has a 12.8-inch touchscreen, a 7-inch driver display, wireless and wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 15W wireless charger, USB-C ports and six speakers.
MG’s model page does not state warranty terms. Pakistani press coverage of the launch reports a 5-year or 150,000 km vehicle warranty and an 8-year or 150,000 km battery warranty; confirm these with a dealer.
Only one version is sold, so the decision is whether it suits your driving. In our opinion it is a strong choice for buyers with home charging who mostly drive in and around the city, thanks to its generous safety kit, practical boot and quick DC charging. The low 130 mm clearance and modest range mean frequent long-distance highway drivers may prefer a hybrid.
