Kia Stonic overview and our opinion

Engine and gearbox

The all-new Kia Stonic uses a 1.0-litre turbocharged GDi petrol engine (998 cc) rated at 100 PS at 6,000 rpm and 172 Nm from 1,500 to 3,500 rpm. Power goes to the front wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic, and both variants get Eco, Normal and Sport drive modes. Kia Pakistan says the engine needs regular unleaded petrol of at least RON 92 and meets Euro 5 emissions, with a claimed top speed of 179 km/h. No official fuel economy figure has been published.

Size and practicality

At 4,165 mm long and 1,760 mm wide on a 2,580 mm wheelbase, the Stonic is a compact five-seat crossover. Boot space is 352 litres with the rear seats up and 1,155 litres with them folded, and the fuel tank holds 45 litres. Ground clearance is 165 mm on the Turbo X and 183 mm on the Turbo S, which also sits slightly taller (1,520 mm against 1,500 mm with roof rails) on its bigger 17-inch wheels. The turning radius is a city-friendly 5.2 metres.

Equipment by variant

Both variants come with six airbags, ESC, hill-start assist, multi-collision braking, rear ISOFIX anchors, tyre pressure monitoring, front and rear parking sensors, a rear camera, an electric parking brake with auto hold and cruise control with a manual speed limiter. Inside there is an 8-inch display audio system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and six speakers, a 4.2-inch TFT cluster, manual air conditioning and 60:40 split rear seats. The Turbo X has halogen projector headlamps, 16-inch alloys, keyless entry with a folding key and black cloth seats. The Turbo S adds LED projector headlamps, LED fog lamps, a power tilt-and-slide sunroof, a smart key with push-button start, an auto-dimming mirror, two-tone cloth and artificial leather seats, metal pedals and 17-inch alloys.

Price and warranty

Ex-factory prices are Rs 5,499,000 for the Turbo X and Rs 5,899,000 for the Turbo S, as reported when bookings opened on 1 October 2026. Kia’s own price list still shows the Stonic as TBD, so confirm the final figure with a dealer. Kia Pakistan’s general warranty is 4 years or 100,000 km, whichever comes first.

Which variant to buy

Our opinion: the Turbo S is the better buy. For Rs 400,000 more it adds LED lighting, a sunroof, push-button start and 18 mm more ground clearance, which matters on Pakistani roads. The Turbo X makes sense if you mainly want the turbo engine and DCT gearbox at the lowest price and can live without the extra comfort features.
