Engines and hybrid options

The Kia Sorento is offered with three powertrains. The 3.5L V6 FWD uses a 3,470 cc SmartStream petrol V6 with 269 hp and 331 Nm and an 8-speed automatic. The two Turbo Hybrid versions pair a 1.6-litre turbo petrol engine (1,598 cc) with a 1.49 kWh battery for a combined 238 hp and 367 Nm through a 6-speed automatic, driving either the front wheels or all four. The Plug-in Hybrid AWD uses a larger 13.8 kWh battery for 249 hp, an electric-only range of 66 km and a 3.3 kW on-board charger that fills the battery from 15 to 95 percent in 3 hours 25 minutes. No official fuel economy figures are published.

Size and practicality

All Sorentos are seven-seaters measuring 4,815 mm long, 1,900 mm wide and about 1,700 mm tall on a 2,815 mm wheelbase. Luggage space is 179 litres with all three rows up, 813 litres with the third row folded and 1,996 litres with only the front seats in use. Ground clearance is 174 to 176 mm. The V6 and hybrids have a 67-litre fuel tank, while the PHEV’s is 47 litres. The V6 uses 18-inch wheels and the hybrids 19-inch, all with a full-size alloy spare.

Equipment by variant

Every Sorento has six airbags, a panoramic sunroof, a smart power tailgate, roof rails, dual 12.3-inch curved displays, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, remote engine start and tyre pressure monitoring. The V6 adds a 360-degree camera, 12 parking sensors and rain-sensing wipers but has no heated or ventilated seats. The HEV FWD brings quilted leather, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, paddle shifters and 64-colour ambient lighting, with a reverse camera instead of the 360-degree view. The HEV AWD and PHEV AWD add terrain modes, ventilated front seats, a colour head-up display, 12-speaker Bose audio, a 14-way driver seat with memory and Kia’s full driver-assistance suite, including smart cruise control with stop and go, forward and blind-spot collision avoidance and lane following assist.

Price and warranty

Prices reported after Kia’s October 2026 cut are Rs 13,649,000 for the V6, Rs 15,499,000 for both hybrids and Rs 16,499,000 for the PHEV. The cut is described as a limited-time offer. The warranty is 4 years or 100,000 km.

Which variant to buy

Our opinion: at the reduced price the HEV AWD is the standout, since it costs the same as the HEV FWD yet adds all-wheel drive, driver assistance and far more equipment. Choose the PHEV only if you can charge at home every night, and the V6 only if you want the simplest mechanical layout.
