Engine and gearbox

The Jetour Dashing uses a 1.5-litre (1,498 cc) turbocharged petrol engine that makes 115 kW (154 hp) at 5,500 rpm and 230 Nm between 1,750 and 4,000 rpm. Power goes to the front wheels through a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic, with Eco and Sport driving modes and paddle shifters. Jetour’s launch material quoted average consumption of 7.8 litres per 100 km, roughly 12.8 km/l; real-world economy in Pakistani city traffic will depend on how and where you drive.

Size and practicality

At 4,590 mm long, 1,900 mm wide and 1,685 mm tall on a 2,720 mm wheelbase, the Dashing is a five-seat crossover sized close to the Kia Sportage and Hyundai Tucson. Ground clearance is listed at 160 mm, which is lower than many rivals, so take care over large speed breakers and broken roads. It rides on 19-inch alloy wheels with 235/55 R19 tyres and has a 57-litre fuel tank, an electric tailgate and a rear armrest with cup holders.

Equipment

Pakistan gets a single Deluxe version, and it is well equipped. Safety kit includes six airbags (front, side and curtain), ABS with EBD and brake assist, stability and traction control, hill start and hill descent control, ISOFIX mounts, blind spot detection, rear cross traffic alert, rear sensors and a 360-degree camera. Inside you get dual 10.25-inch screens for the instruments and infotainment, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, navigation, a wireless charging pad, climate control with rear vents, powered front seats in synthetic leather, a panoramic sunroof, keyless entry, push-button and remote engine start, and cruise control. Outside there are automatic LED headlights, LED running lights and tail lamps, hidden door handles and heated power-folding mirrors.

Warranty and after-sales

We could not confirm the standard vehicle warranty terms from Jetour Pakistan, so ask the dealer for them in writing before booking. Jetour has run promotions this year that included a free two-year or 40,000 km periodic maintenance package, but these were time-limited, so check what is on offer when you buy. The Dashing is locally assembled and sold through Jetour’s 3S dealerships.

Which variant to buy

There is only one variant, the Dashing Deluxe at Rs 7,899,000 ex-factory, so the choice comes down to colour. In our opinion, the Dashing makes the most sense for buyers who want a sharply styled, feature-rich five-seater for daily use and do not need a third row. Families who regularly carry more than five people should look at the X70 Plus, which costs Rs 400,000 more.
