Engine and hybrid system

Both versions use a Smartstream 2.5-litre turbocharged petrol hybrid with all-wheel drive and a 6-speed automatic gearbox with column-type shift-by-wire and paddle shifters. Hyundai Nishat’s website does not publish power, torque or battery figures; PakWheels’ launch report quotes 329 hp and 460 Nm. Drive modes include Eco, Sport and My Drive, plus Snow, Mud and Sand terrain modes. No official fuel economy figure is published.

Size and practicality

The Palisade is Hyundai’s largest vehicle in Pakistan and the official website lists 7-seat and 8-seat options. The Smart has eight seats with a bench in the middle row, while the Calligraphy Edition has seven seats with two individual middle-row seats. Hyundai Nishat has not published exterior dimensions, boot space or ground clearance on its website. The Smart rides on 20-inch alloy wheels and the Calligraphy on 21-inch wheels. Both versions are offered in four colours: Phantom Black, Polar White, Silver Metallic and Hampton Gray.

Equipment by variant

Both versions come with eight airbags, electronic stability control, hill start assist, downhill brake control, blind-spot collision-avoidance assist, a surround view monitor, front, side and rear parking sensors, ISOFIX mounts and smart cruise control. Comfort equipment includes heated and ventilated seats, powered seats with lumbar support, a passenger ‘boss seat’ control, three-zone automatic climate control, a dual sunroof, a BOSE sound system, wireless charging, push-button start, power child locks, a smart trunk, rear door sunshades and rain-sensing wipers. The Calligraphy Edition adds 21-inch alloys, Nappa leather seats, relaxation seats, a two-tone leather steering wheel and welcome and escort lights.

Warranty

Hyundai Nishat’s warranty conditions name the Palisade Hybrid: 48 months or 100,000 km of general cover, 4 years or 100,000 km on the hybrid motor and control unit, and 8 years or 160,000 km on the high-voltage battery. Paint is covered for 24 months or 50,000 km. The ex-factory prices include FED and sales tax only; other taxes and levies, freight and insurance are charged separately, so ask your dealer for the final payable price.

Which variant to buy

In our opinion, the choice comes down to seating. Large families who need eight seats should buy the Smart, which already has the full safety package and most of the comfort features. The Calligraphy Edition’s extra PKR 1,450,000 buys mostly luxury touches, Nappa leather and relaxation seats, so it suits buyers who prioritise rear-seat comfort and will rarely carry eight people. Either way, book a test drive to check third-row space for your family.
