The IONIQ 5 is a battery-electric vehicle. Hyundai Nishat’s specification page describes one configuration: an 84 kWh lithium-ion battery feeding permanent magnet synchronous motors with a combined 239 kW (305 PS) and 605 Nm, all-wheel drive and a single-speed reduction gear. The page quotes an all-electric range of up to 500 km and offers Eco, Normal, Sport and Snow drive modes. The site does not list charging speeds, charging times or the charging port type. According to Gari.pk, the Smart is the earlier IONIQ 5 (NE) and the Signature is the facelifted IONIQ 5 (PE), so the published specifications most likely describe the Signature.
The IONIQ 5 is 4,635mm long, 1,890mm wide and 1,605mm tall, with a very long 3,000mm wheelbase that frees up a flat, roomy cabin for five. Hyundai Nishat lists 170mm of ground clearance and a luggage capacity of 770 litres. It sits on 20-inch alloy wheels with 255/45 R20 tyres and has tyre pressure monitoring. Kerb weight is 2,020 to 2,100 kg and the turning radius is 5.99 metres. It is imported as a completely built unit; in our view, that leaves its price more exposed to exchange-rate and duty changes than locally assembled Hyundais.
The specification page lists six airbags, ABS, electronic stability control, traction control, hill start assist, a blind-spot view monitor, cruise control, rear occupant alert, front and rear parking sensors, a surround view camera and a seat belt warning. It also highlights vehicle-to-load (V2L), which lets you power appliances from the car’s battery, plus a wireless charger and a 180 W outlet. The model page mentions 12.25-inch displays. Hyundai Nishat does not publish a separate equipment list for the Smart, so buyers should confirm its features with a dealer.
Hyundai Nishat’s warranty conditions give new vehicles 48 months or 100,000 km of general cover. Gari.pk reports a 4-year or 100,000 km vehicle and battery warranty for the IONIQ models; the official conditions page does not mention the IONIQ battery specifically, so ask for the battery warranty terms in writing when booking. Paint is covered for 24 months or 50,000 km.
In our opinion, the Signature is the one to choose if your budget allows. For PKR 2,499,000 more, you get the newer facelifted model, and it is the version the official specifications appear to describe, so you know what you are buying. Before choosing the Smart, ask the dealer for its battery size, range and equipment in writing.
