GAC Aion UT overview and our opinion

Battery and motor

The GAC Aion UT is a front-wheel-drive electric hatchback. Lucky Motor Corporation (LMC) sells it in Pakistan as a fully imported car. It uses a 44 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery built with GAC’s Magazine Battery design, which the company says is engineered for fire safety, rapid cooling and puncture resistance. The motor produces 134 hp and 145 Nm. Quoted range is 335 km on the WLTP cycle and 400 km on the older NEDC cycle. Real-world range will be lower in summer heat and heavy traffic with the AC running.

Charging

AC charging is rated at 6.6 kW, so the car is designed to be charged overnight at home on a properly installed wall box. DC fast charging peaks at 64 kW, with a quoted 10–80% top-up in about 40 minutes. That is slower than the Aion V and Hyptec HT, which matters if you plan regular motorway trips.

Size and practicality

The UT is 4,270 mm long, 1,850 mm wide and 1,575 mm tall, which keeps it compact enough for city parking. Its 2,750 mm wheelbase is unusually long for a car of this length, and LMC highlights rear legroom as a strength. The boot holds 440 litres, a generous figure for a hatchback. It rides on 16-inch wheels with aerodynamic covers.

Equipment

Pakistan gets one variant, the Aion UT Elite. It has a 14.6-inch touchscreen, an 8.88-inch digital instrument cluster, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and a PM2.5 cabin air filter. Safety equipment includes six airbags, front and rear parking sensors and a surround-view camera. LMC also lists a driver-assistance (ADAS) suite, but the material we found does not say which systems it includes. Seats are trimmed in a cream-and-black fabric rather than leather. Outside, the car has dual-segment LED daytime running lights and flush door handles that extend automatically.

Warranty

LMC offers an 8-year/160,000 km vehicle warranty and an 8-year/200,000 km battery warranty. This is a major advantage over grey-market Aion UT imports, which have been sold in Pakistan without factory backing.

Which variant to buy

There is only one variant, so the real decision is whether the UT suits your routine. In our opinion, it makes the most sense for city commuters who can charge at home and want low running costs, modern safety equipment and a roomy cabin at Rs 6,399,000. Buyers who often drive between cities without reliable fast-charger access should consider the larger-battery Aion V instead.
