The BYD Seal is a fully electric four-door sedan sold in Pakistan in two variants: Dynamic at Rs 14,790,000 and Premium at Rs 16,990,000 ex-factory. Both are rear-wheel drive. The Dynamic uses a 61.44 kWh Blade battery and a 150 kW (about 201 hp), 310 Nm motor, with a claimed 0-100 km/h time of 7.5 seconds and an NEDC range of 510 km. The Premium has a larger 82.56 kWh battery and a 230 kW (about 308 hp), 360 Nm motor, cutting the claimed 0-100 km/h time to 5.9 seconds and stretching the NEDC range to 650 km. The battery is built into the body using BYD’s cell-to-body (CTB) design on e-Platform 3.0.
Both variants accept AC charging through a Type 2 port at 7 kW. DC fast charging through a CCS2 port peaks at 110 kW on the Dynamic and 150 kW on the Premium, and BYD says a 150 kW charger can take the Seal from 30% to 80% in about 26 minutes. Vehicle-to-load (V2L) is supported and a portable charging cable is supplied.
The Seal measures 4,800 mm long, 1,875 mm wide and 1,460 mm tall, with a long 2,920 mm wheelbase. It seats five, and the rear floor is flat, which helps the middle passenger. Luggage space is 400 litres in the rear boot plus a 50-litre front trunk. The Dynamic rides on 225/50 R18 tyres and the Premium on 235/45 R19, with double-wishbone front and multi-link rear suspension.
BYD lists a silver-plated panoramic glass roof, a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital instrument display, a 12-speaker Dynaudio sound system, two wireless phone chargers, keyless entry and start with an NFC card key, dual-zone heat-pump climate control with rear vents, electronically hidden door handles and power-adjustable front seats. Safety and driver assistance include a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning and prevention, blind spot detection, front and rear cross-traffic alert and brake, door open warning, high beam assist and driver attention warning. PakWheels lists seven airbags for both variants. The official brochure suggests some trim items, such as genuine instead of imitation leather, differ between the two, so check at the dealer.
The Seal brochure we could read does not state warranty terms. PakWheels lists an 8-year or 160,000 km battery warranty; ask the dealer for the vehicle warranty.
In our view the Premium is worth the extra Rs 2.2 million for most buyers, because it adds 140 km of claimed range, much quicker acceleration and faster DC charging. The Dynamic still makes sense for owners who drive mainly in the city and charge at home.
