The BYD Atto 2 is sold in Pakistan in one variant, the Premium, priced at Rs 7,290,000 ex-factory. It is a fully electric, front-wheel-drive crossover with a 45.12 kWh BYD Blade battery, which uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cells. Its single motor makes 130 kW (about 174 hp) and 290 Nm, and BYD Pakistan quotes 0-100 km/h in 7.9 seconds and a driving range of up to 380 km on the NEDC cycle. Real-world range will be lower, especially at motorway speeds or with the AC working hard in summer.
The Atto 2 has a Type 2 port for AC charging at up to 7 kW and a CCS2 port for DC fast charging at up to 82 kW. A portable Mode 2 charging cable comes with the car, and vehicle-to-load (V2L) lets the battery power external appliances, which is handy during load-shedding or on a picnic.
At 4,310 mm long, 1,830 mm wide and 1,675 mm tall on a 2,620 mm wheelbase, the Atto 2 is a compact five-seater, a little shorter than the Atto 3. BYD quotes a maximum luggage capacity of 1,320 litres with the rear seats folded. It rides on 17-inch alloy wheels with 215/60 R17 tyres, with MacPherson strut front and torsion beam rear suspension and disc brakes all round.
With only one variant, every Atto 2 gets the same kit. Inside there is a 12.8-inch rotating touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an 8.8-inch digital instrument display, eight speakers, faux leather upholstery, a 6-way powered driver seat and 4-way powered passenger seat, ventilated front seats, climate control with rear vents and a CN95 filter, a 50 W wireless phone charger, keyless entry and start, and a digital key or NFC card. Safety equipment includes six airbags (front, side and curtain), a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, ISOFIX mounts, tyre pressure monitoring and an electric parking brake with auto-hold. Driver aids include adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane departure warning and assist, traffic sign recognition and traffic jam assist.
BYD Pakistan’s flyer lists a 6-year or 150,000 km vehicle warranty and an 8-year or 160,000 km warranty on the Blade battery, plus separate cover for the low-voltage LFP battery, whichever limit comes first.
There is no choice to make, because the Premium is the only Atto 2 on sale. In our opinion it is the most sensible way into a new BYD in Pakistan: it brings the brand’s core technology and a strong safety list for Rs 1.7 million less than the Atto 3. Buyers who regularly drive long intercity distances should weigh its shorter claimed range against the bigger battery of the Atto 3.
