The BYD Atto 3 was one of the first two BYD models launched in Pakistan and is sold in a single Advance variant at Rs 8,990,000 ex-factory. It is a fully electric compact SUV with a 49.92 kWh BYD Blade battery. Its motor produces 150 kW (about 201 hp) and 310 Nm, and BYD Pakistan claims 0-100 km/h in 7.9 seconds and an NEDC range of up to 410 km. The car sits on BYD’s e-Platform 3.0, which pairs an 8-in-1 electric powertrain with a heat pump system meant to reduce energy losses when heating or cooling the cabin.
BYD Pakistan’s Atto 3 brochure does not list charging speeds. PakWheels lists a 7 kW AC onboard charger, a CCS2 port and a 10-80% DC charge in about 42 minutes, so confirm these with a dealer. The brochure does confirm vehicle-to-load (V2L), which can supply up to 2.2 kW to run everyday appliances from the car’s battery.
The Atto 3 is 4,455 mm long, 1,875 mm wide and 1,615 mm tall, with a 2,720 mm wheelbase, so it is longer and wider than the Atto 2. It seats five, and BYD quotes up to 1,340 litres of luggage space with the rear seats folded. A panoramic sunroof measuring 1,261 by 849 mm, with electric slide and anti-jam, stretches over the second row.
The brochure lists seven airbags: dual front, front side, side curtain and a far-side airbag on the driver’s side. Other highlights are a rotating touchscreen with voice control, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 360-degree camera, an NFC card key, a wireless phone charger, powered seats, a premium sound system and multiple driving modes. Driver assistance includes adaptive cruise control, blind spot detection, lane departure warning and prevention, rear cross-traffic alert and brake, door open warning and adaptive front lighting. Note that the brochure describes a 15.6-inch screen, while PakWheels lists a 12.8-inch screen for the Pakistani Advance, so check the car in the showroom.
BYD Pakistan offers a 6-year or 150,000 km vehicle warranty and an 8-year or 160,000 km Blade battery warranty, whichever comes first.
The Advance is the only Atto 3 on sale. In our opinion it makes sense over the cheaper Atto 2 if you want more range, a roomier cabin and the panoramic sunroof, and can stretch to the extra Rs 1.7 million. If you mostly drive in the city, the Atto 2 covers most of the same ground for less money.
