Electric motors and battery

The BMW iX is BMW’s large, fully electric luxury SUV, and Dewan Motors lists two versions in Pakistan, both with a motor on each axle. BMW’s official Pakistan site gives the iX xDrive60 400 kW (544 PS), 765 Nm, 0–100 km/h in 4.6 seconds, a 200 km/h top speed and a WLTP range of 563 to 701 km. The official site has no figures for the xDrive45, but BMW’s international technical data lists 300 kW, 700 Nm, 0–100 km/h in 5.1 seconds and a WLTP range of 490 to 602 km, with a 100.4 kWh battery, 22 kW AC charging and DC charging up to 175 kW.

Size and practicality

BMW’s international data lists the iX at 4,965 mm long, 1,970 mm wide and 1,695 mm tall, with 500 litres of boot space that grows to 1,750 litres with the rear seats folded. The official site says the cabin offers generous space for the driver and passengers, and room for bulky items in the luggage compartment.

Equipment

The official site highlights the Sky Lounge panoramic glass sunroof, which covers more than two square metres and can be darkened at the press of a button. The floating BMW Curved Display faces the driver, and wireless Apple CarPlay is supported. The kidney grille houses a 360-degree camera and radar for the driver assistance systems. Sporty M multifunction seats with many adjustment options and dark silver M interior accents are shown. Outside, the Iconic Glow grille is lit in white, and slim vertical headlights frame the front. The site describes the head-up display as optional, so confirm whether your car has it.

Warranty

BMW Dewan gives a 2-year, unlimited-mileage vehicle warranty and an 8-year or 160,000 km high-voltage battery warranty, whichever comes first, for fifth-generation BMW electric cars like the iX. Local press reports a free wallbox charger with installation for BMW EV buyers.

Which variant to buy

The iX xDrive45 costs Rs 38,500,000 and the xDrive60 costs Rs 58,060,000, a difference of Rs 19,560,000. In our opinion, the xDrive45 is the smarter buy for most people: it is still quick, its claimed range is long enough for intercity travel, and the cabin experience should be very similar. Choose the xDrive60 only if you want the extra power and range and the price gap does not matter to you.
