Engine and drivetrain

The Daewoo BH120F is the flagship of the Daewoo Pak Motors range, a rear-engined luxury coach built in Pakistan by the joint venture of Daewoo Bus Corporation of Korea and Afzal Motors. The official specification lists 340 hp, Euro II emissions and a 430 mm clutch. It is the only model in the range whose gearbox is listed: a six-speed transmission with one reverse gear and a ZF Intarder. An Intarder is a hydraulic retarder built into the gearbox that helps slow the bus without relying only on the main brakes, which is useful on long descents. Engine size, torque and fuel type are not published.

Size and practicality

At 12.0 metres, the BH120F is the longest bus on the official site, and its gross vehicle weight of 18,000 kg is the highest in the range. It seats 49 passengers plus two crew (49+1+1) on Marcopolo seats in a 2×2 layout, so it carries more people than the 11.5-metre BH115 and BH116 without moving to tighter 3×2 rows. Air-bag suspension and alloy wheels are standard. Width, height, wheelbase, fuel tank capacity and tyre size are not listed.

Equipment

There is one specification. It has full air brakes with ABS, wooden flooring, two LED screens (32-inch at the front and 17-inch in the centre), five on-board cameras, a hot and cold climate unit, curtains and a PA system. Safety equipment includes three fire extinguishers and two emergency door hammers. Compared with the BH116, it adds the Intarder, the extra cameras, wooden flooring, half a metre of extra length and five more passenger seats.

Daewoo Pak Motors does not publish prices or warranty terms. Request a quotation directly, and ask for the warranty period and the coverage of the transmission and retarder in writing.

Which version to buy

Our view: the BH120F is the one to choose for premium intercity services where passenger comfort and long-distance braking matter most. The Intarder should reduce brake wear on hilly routes, and the extra seats help earnings per trip. If your routes are mostly short or include tight city terminals, the shorter BH116 may be easier to manoeuvre. The BH120F is also listed in the fleet of Daewoo Express, a separate intercity operator, which suggests it has been proven in Pakistani service, but confirm parts and after-sales support with the maker before ordering.
