Battery and motor

The Yadea Velax is a large, sporty electric scooter priced at Rs 444,000. Its product page lists a 72V 30Ah lithium iron phosphate battery with Yadea’s TTFAR technology and a motor rated at 2,000W with a 3,200W peak and 172 Nm of torque. Yadea quotes a top speed of 65 km/h and a range of 85 km in Eco mode, with six to seven hours of charging. An intelligent energy management controller offers two riding modes and, Yadea says, can extend battery life by up to 20 percent. A separate Velax review on Yadea’s own blog quotes lower figures, including a 66 km range and 62 km/h top speed, so treat the headline numbers with some caution.

Size and practicality

According to Yadea’s review, the Velax measures 1,850 × 790 × 1,210 mm with a 1,250 mm wheelbase, 125 mm of ground clearance and a dry weight of 95 kg. That makes it one of the bigger and heavier scooters in Yadea’s Pakistani range. Yadea says it is comfortable with a pillion rider and climbs 15-degree slopes, and its home charging means no queues at petrol pumps. The product page lists 14-inch tubeless tyres, while the review lists 12-inch sizes, so check the tyres on the showroom scooter.

Equipment

The Velax is sold in one version. It has front and rear disc brakes, hydraulic suspension at both ends, an LED headlight and a digital display showing speed, battery level and distance. Yadea’s EasyGO system provides Bluetooth keyless unlocking, the scooter connects to the Yadea smart app, and the review states an IP67 waterproof rating. Colours are Black, Blue and Grey.

Warranty

The product page states a 4-year or 50,000 km battery pack replacement warranty. Yadea’s review instead lists 3 years or 50,000 km on the battery plus 2 years or 40,000 km on the vehicle, so get the exact terms in writing.

Which one to buy

Our view: the Velax is for riders who want a bigger, more motorcycle-like scooter with strong pulling power for riding two-up. Its long battery warranty is a plus. However, it costs Rs 139,000 more than the T5L, which has a battery of the same voltage and capacity and a similar quoted range, so commuters focused purely on value may prefer the T5L. Yadea’s review says the Rs 444,000 price applies after a government subsidy, so ask your dealer how the subsidy works before you book.
