The Road Prince Shift 125 uses a 123cc four-stroke engine, according to the official specification list. It drives through a four-speed gearbox, a wet multi-plate clutch and a chain. It is kick-start only. Road Prince claims a top speed of 105 km/h, the highest of its conventional commuter bikes, and fuel consumption of 45 km per litre. Engine oil capacity is 1100 ml and the battery is a 12-volt, 3.5 Ah unit.
The Shift is 1920 mm long, 760 mm wide and 1220 mm tall, with a 1209 mm wheelbase. Its dry weight is 95 kg, the heaviest of Road Prince’s kick-start commuters. Unlike the 70cc to 110cc models, which use backbone frames, it has a cradle-type frame. The fuel tank is listed at 10 litres, again with a stray question mark on the official page, so confirm the figure with a dealer. Main and side stands are fitted. Seat height, ground clearance and suspension details are not published, so a test ride two-up is worthwhile if you often carry a passenger.
Only one version is listed, in black or red. It has drum brakes front and rear, a round 35/35 W headlight, a 5 W tail light, 10 W indicators, a 23 W brake light and orange side reflectors. No self-start or disc brake is mentioned, which is worth weighing at this price, since Road Prince’s own Wego 150 offers both.
The Road Prince website does not show a price. The Shift 125 is reported at Rs 167,000 by several Pakistani price sites, with PakWheels listing Rs 165,000. Confirm the current figure with an authorised dealer. Warranty terms are not published in readable form on the official site, which shows only scanned warranty forms, so get the terms in writing at purchase.
There is just one Shift 125, so the decision is whether it suits you better than a 100cc or 110cc model. In our opinion it makes sense if you regularly carry a passenger, ride on highways or want the extra speed Road Prince claims. If most of your riding is short city trips, the Power Plus 100 is reported to cost about Rs 45,000 less and is claimed to be 10 km per litre more economical. Because resale value matters to many 125cc buyers, compare second-hand prices for Road Prince and its rivals before you commit.
