The Mecha sits at the top of Jolta’s scooter range. It uses a 2000 watt motor, the same power rating as the JE-125L motorcycle, and a 72V 38Ah battery. Jolta quotes a top speed of 70 km/h, which is 20 km/h more than the Storm, Neo and Zeno, and a range of 80 to 90 km per charge. Charging takes 7 to 9 hours. The spec table does not name the battery chemistry, but the general feature list on the same page mentions a graphene battery.
Jolta has not published dimensions, weight, seat height or storage space for the Mecha. Its higher top speed makes it the only Jolta scooter quoted above 50 km/h, which should make it more comfortable to ride on main roads and bypasses where traffic moves faster. Cruise control and reverse gear are included. Jolta’s feature list also mentions a low wind resistant body, aluminium alloy rims, rolling-resistant tyres and a side stand sensor. With a 7 to 9 hour charging time, it is best charged overnight.
There is one variant. The official page lists front and rear disc brakes, cruise control, reverse gear, a USB port and a digital speedometer. The general feature list adds a multi-mode motor and a traction control system. This is the same core equipment as the Neo and Zeno, so the extra money mainly buys the stronger motor and higher top speed rather than more features. Its 72V 38Ah battery is the same size as the one in the Zeno Pro, but the Mecha pairs it with a motor rated at 2000W instead of 1200W.
Jolta lists a 20 month warranty for the Mecha. Ask the dealer to confirm the battery warranty terms, as these are not set out separately on the page. The 20 month term is four months shorter than the 24 months Jolta gives its lithium-battery motorcycles. Jolta’s website also promotes doorstep after-sales service and genuine spare parts, so ask your nearest dealer how service visits are arranged in your city.
The Mecha is sold in a single version at Rs 271,900. Our opinion: it is worth the premium only if you regularly ride on faster roads where 50 km/h scooters feel slow, or if you often carry a passenger and want the extra power. If your trips are mostly within the city at lower speeds, the Neo Pro at Rs 189,900 claims the same 80 to 90 km range and the same core features for Rs 82,000 less, which we think is the more sensible choice for most commuters.
