The Roshni X uses a 1500-2200W brushless motor and a 73.6V 40Ah (3kWh) lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery. Crown quotes a top speed of 55-60 km/h and a range of 120 km on a full charge, depending on usage and terrain. Charging takes 4 to 5 hours with the 72V 10A charger, which is much quicker than the graphene-battery Roshni. Four speed modes are available, and Crown says it can climb gradients of up to 20 degrees, making it usable in hilly areas.
According to Crown’s FAQ, the Roshni X measures 1800 x 690 x 1250 mm, with a 1300 mm wheelbase and a generous 220 mm of ground clearance, useful for speed breakers and broken roads. It weighs 99 kg and has a rated load capacity of 180 kg. It rides on 90/80-12 tyres front and rear. The under-seat storage is described as generously sized, with room for a bag, helmet or groceries, and the seat uses high-density foam to reduce fatigue on longer rides.
There is one version. It comes with dual disc brakes front and rear, a side-stand sensor, a remote alarm anti-theft system, a smart digital meter showing speed, battery, distance and more, and under-seat storage. Crown includes its ToughGuard protection as a complimentary gift. Note that NFC unlock is not fitted on the Roshni X. Colours listed are blue, silver, green, black and red.
Crown’s standard LFP coverage applies: the battery for 4 years or 48,000 km, the motor and controller for 3 years or 36,000 km on a repairable basis, and body parts for 1 year or 12,000 km, whichever comes first.
The Roshni X charges from a standard home socket, and its 4 to 5 hour charging time is short enough for an overnight top-up even with load-shedding. Crown sells it through its dealer network and bank installment partners, and registration is mandatory, as with all of Crown’s electric bikes.
In our opinion, the Roshni X is the better buy than the cheaper Roshni for most riders. The extra Rs 55,000 brings a lithium battery with a much longer warranty, charging in about half the time, a stronger motor, dual disc brakes and a side-stand sensor. Its high ground clearance and climbing ability suit riders in hilly or rough areas. Against similarly priced Crown models such as the Champion and Flash, it offers a similar range but a lower top speed and no NFC unlock, so compare those if speed matters more to you than ground clearance.
