Both Raftaar variants use a 3000-4000W brushless (BLDC) motor and a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, and Crown quotes a top speed of 85-90 km/h for each. The standard Raftaar has a 73.6V 40Ah (3kWh) pack, which Crown rates for 100-110 km in eco mode and a full charge in 4 to 5 hours. The Raftaar Pro moves to a 73.6V 60Ah (4.4kWh) pack, rated for 140-160 km in eco mode, with charging taking 6 to 7 hours. Both use a 72V 10A charger and four speed modes, and Crown says the scooter recovers some energy through regenerative braking. The company states that the LFP cells are good for more than 3,000 charge cycles.
The Raftaar rides on 90/90-12 tyres front and rear and, according to Crown, uses a reinforced metal body on a motorcycle-style chassis. The standard model weighs 100 kg and has a rated load capacity of 200 kg, while the bigger battery takes the Pro to 122 kg with a 180 kg load rating. Crown describes a full-length seat and heavy-duty suspension for carrying a passenger, plus a metal safety frame that protects the body panels from minor knocks. The Pro page also lists under-seat storage for a helmet or small items, and Crown says the electrical parts are IP-rated for rain.
Equipment is otherwise the same on both: a combined braking system (CBS) front and rear, square dual LED headlights, an LED tail light, NFC card unlock and a digital display showing speed, range and battery health. Crown includes its ToughGuard protection as a complimentary gift. The listed differences are the battery, charging time, weight, load rating and the under-seat storage mentioned on the Pro page.
Crown covers the LFP battery for 4 years or 48,000 km, the motor and controller for 3 years or 36,000 km on a repairable basis, and body parts for 1 year or 12,000 km, whichever comes first. Registration is required, and Crown sells through a dealer network that it says covers more than 80 cities, with bank installment plans available.
In our opinion, the standard Raftaar is enough for most city riders: around 100 km per charge covers several days of typical commuting, and it costs Rs 35,100 less. The Raftaar Pro makes more sense if you ride long distances every day, use expressways or do delivery work and want to charge less often. Keep in mind that the range figures are eco-mode claims and will drop if you ride near the 85-90 km/h top speed, so plan your daily distance with a safety margin.
