Engine and gearbox

This is a motorcycle-style cargo loader, with a motorcycle front end pulling a rear cargo tray. Its 200cc single-cylinder, four-stroke engine is water-cooled with a radiator and cooling fan. Pak Star quotes 10.25 kW (about 13.7 hp) at 10,000 rpm and 12.5 Nm at 9,000 rpm. The manual gearbox has four forward gears and a reverse, with a seven-plate wet clutch, and it has both electric and kick start. The compression ratio is 9.2:1 and the engine takes up to 1,100 ml of oil.

Fuel and running costs

The loader runs on petrol only, with a 24-litre tank, far larger than the passenger rickshaws. Pak Star claims 20 km per litre, which would give a range of several hundred kilometres per tank in theory. Actual economy depends heavily on how much you carry.

Size and practicality

The loader is 3,920 mm long, 1,460 mm wide and 1,560 mm tall on a long 2,740 mm wheelbase, with a 1,155 mm wheel track. Unladen weight is 430 kg and rated load capacity is 800 kg. The cargo tray measures 2,060 x 1,360 x 600 mm. Pak Star rates gradeability at 22 to 23 percent, but the turning circle is a wide 8,600 mm, so plan for three-point turns in narrow markets. The frame is fabricated from rectangular steel pipe, and no roof rack is included.

Brakes, suspension and tyres

Front suspension is two heavy-duty shock absorbers with two spring cushions; the rear uses two leaf springs and two spring cushions. Both brakes are drums, mechanical at the front and hydraulic at the rear. Larger 5.00-12 tube-type tyres with a 12-ply rating and a 12 V 32 Ah battery are fitted.

Versions and price

The third-party list from around 2024 names three versions: Basic at Rs 285,000, With Booster at Rs 295,000 and With Booster and Damping System at Rs 325,000. Pak Star’s website does not explain the booster or damping equipment. It does show a separate 200cc Auto Damper model with a tipping cargo box, which may be the damping version, but this is not confirmed. Warranty and colours are not published.

Which version to buy

Our opinion: start with the Basic unless you know you need the extra equipment, and ask the dealer to show exactly what the booster and damping system add before paying up to Rs 40,000 more. If you unload loose material such as sand or bricks every day, a tipping body can save real time.
