Nora E30 overview and our opinion

Battery and motor

The Nora E30 is a pure electric four-seater built for city driving. According to Nora’s official website, it uses a 4,000 W (4 kW) rear-mounted motor driving the rear wheels and a 72-volt lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery. The E30 Eco has a 9.1 kWh pack with a claimed range of up to 120 km, while the E30 Eco Plus has a 15.1 kWh pack rated at up to 200 km. Top speed is 65 km/h for both versions, and a full charge from a home AC charger takes around 6 to 8 hours.

Range extender and battery swapping

Both variants can be ordered with Nora’s optional range extender (REEV), which costs an extra Rs 148,000 according to the official price list. PakWheels reports that this adds a 70cc petrol engine with a 3-litre fuel tank that works as a generator. Nora’s own site quotes a total range of up to 450 km with REEV for the E30 range, but does not break this down by variant. The battery is also swappable: Nora says its swap stations, placed at existing petrol pumps in Lahore, can replace a flat battery in under three minutes.

Size and practicality

The E30 is a very compact car. Nora’s company profile lists it at 2,900 mm long, 1,450 mm wide and 1,600 mm tall, on a 1,900 mm wheelbase. It has five doors and seats four. Because it is classed as an L7 quadricycle and tops out at 65 km/h, it is designed for city streets, school runs and office commutes rather than motorways.

Equipment by variant

Nora’s official comparison lists a digital dashboard on the Eco and a smart dashboard on the Eco Plus, and both get the swappable battery. Beyond that, the official site gives very little detail. Reports from the launch say the Eco comes with air conditioning and leather seats, while the Eco Plus adds a multimedia system. Launch material also mentioned a 7-inch display with a reversing camera, Bluetooth audio and power windows. Buyers should confirm the exact equipment list with a dealer before booking.

Warranty and booking

Nora’s policies page lists a 5-year battery replacement warranty, a 2-year motor warranty, a 2-year whole-vehicle warranty and a 1-year warranty on the range extender. Bookings need a deposit of up to 20% of the ex-factory price, and Nora quotes standard delivery within 60 days. Prices on the official site exclude GST, freight, registration and token tax.

Which variant to buy

Our opinion: for most buyers the E30 Eco Plus is the better choice. It costs Rs 200,000 more than the Eco, but its battery is about 65% bigger and its claimed range rises from 120 km to 200 km, which gives a useful margin for several days of city driving between charges. The Eco makes sense only if your daily trips are short and predictable. We would add the Rs 148,000 range extender only if you often travel outside the city or have no reliable place to charge.
