Pakistan launch status

The Geely Starray EM-i is the plug-in hybrid in the three-model line-up that Bestway Automotive plans to import into Pakistan as a fully built (CBU) car, alongside the EX5 and EX2. Bookings are expected before the end of 2026. Bestway has not announced the price, variants or Pakistani specification, so the figures below come from Geely’s official Australian specification guide.

Engine, battery and motor

The Starray pairs a naturally aspirated 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine (73 kW, 125 Nm) with a 160 kW, 262 Nm electric motor driving the front wheels. Its 18.4 kWh LFP battery gives a WLTP electric-only range of 83 km, and Geely quotes a combined range of 943 km with a full 51-litre tank. Claimed 0–100 km/h is 8.0 seconds and top speed is 170 km/h. The battery charges at up to 6.6 kW AC or 30 kW DC, and vehicle-to-load supplies up to 3.3 kW. Three drive modes, Pure, Hybrid and Power, let the driver choose between electric-only running and full engine assistance. Some markets also offer a larger 29.8 kWh battery, and it is not known which Pakistan will receive.

Size and practicality

At 4,740 mm long, 1,905 mm wide and 1,685 mm tall, with a 2,755 mm wheelbase, the Starray is a midsize five-seat SUV, a little longer than the EX5. Ground clearance is 172 mm, and tare weight is 1,699 to 1,739 kg depending on version. The boot holds 428 litres with the rear seats up, 528 litres including underfloor space and 2,065 litres with the seats folded.

Equipment

In Australia, both versions get seven airbags, a 15.4-inch touchscreen, a 10.2-inch digital cluster, a 360-degree camera, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist and blind spot detection. They also have heated power front seats, automatic climate control with rear vents, wireless Apple CarPlay and roof rails. The top version adds a panoramic sunroof, power tailgate, head-up display, ventilated front seats, front parking sensors, wireless charging and a 16-speaker sound system. Pakistani equipment may differ.

Which variant to buy

Our opinion: for Pakistani buyers who drive between cities or lack reliable charging, the Starray is likely to be the most practical of the three Geely models, because it can keep going on petrol when the battery is empty. If two versions are offered, the top version’s ventilated seats would be welcome in a Pakistani summer. Wait for the official price and confirmed variants before booking.
