Engine and gearbox

Suzuki’s official Every brochure lists an R06A engine: a water-cooled, 658cc, three-cylinder petrol unit with twin overhead camshafts, 12 valves and variable valve timing. It produces 32 kW (about 43 hp) at 5,700 rpm and 58 Nm of torque at 3,800 rpm. The only gearbox is a five-speed manual, with two-wheel drive. Suspension is MacPherson strut at the front and an isolated trailing link with coil springs at the rear, with disc brakes in front and drums behind. Suzuki does not publish an official fuel-economy figure.

Size and practicality

This is a small van, not a car, and its boxy shape is the whole point. The brochure gives a length of 3,395 mm, a width of 1,475 mm, a tall 1,895 mm height, a 2,430 mm wheelbase and 150 mm of ground clearance. The turning radius is a tight 4.1 metres. It seats four people. The rear seat folds in two steps, and the front passenger seat also folds, to create a flat loading floor. The load area is 1,910 mm long with the rear seat folded, or 975 mm with four people aboard, and loading capacity is 350 kg (250 kg with four aboard). The fuel tank holds 37 litres. Practical touches include a boarding-assist handle with a step, an overhead shelf, a shopping-bag hook, vinyl floor and luggage carpets, and a 12V socket.

Equipment

Safety equipment includes driver and passenger airbags, ABS with EBD, front seat-belt pretensioners and force limiters, an immobilizer, a security alarm, rear child locks and a driver-side anti-pinch window. For comfort you get air conditioning with an antibacterial filter, a heater, power steering, front power windows, central locking and keyless entry. The audio system has two front speakers, and the brochure lists USB, SD card, radio, Bluetooth and AUX. A rear wiper and washer is standard. Door mirrors are manually adjusted and the headlamps are halogen.

The official Every page and price list do not state warranty terms, so check with your dealer.

Which variant to buy

There is only one choice: the Every VXR at Rs 2,965,200, which is slightly cheaper than the Alto VXR. In our opinion it makes the most sense for small business owners, delivery work and anyone who carries bulky items often. Families of five should note that it seats only four, and buyers who mostly drive alone in the city will find an Alto easier to live with.
