Omoda E5

Battery and motor

The Omoda E5 is a fully electric compact SUV. Omoda Pakistan lists a 61 kWh battery and a front-mounted motor producing 150 kW (204 hp) and 340 Nm, driving the front wheels. The claimed range is 430 km on the WLTP cycle (505 km on the older NEDC cycle), and the official 0-100 km/h time is 7.6 seconds. In our opinion, real-world range in Pakistani summer heat and at motorway speeds will be lower than the WLTP figure, so plan long trips with a margin.

Charging

The official site quotes DC fast charging from 30% to 80% in 28 minutes and home AC charging at up to 11 kW, which suits overnight charging on a home wallbox. Omoda Pakistan does not publish the maximum DC charging power or the connector type, so check these with the dealer before relying on a particular public charger.

Size and practicality

At 4,424 mm long, 1,830 mm wide and 1,588 mm tall, with a 2,630 mm wheelbase, the E5 is a compact crossover, a little shorter than most C-segment SUVs. The official price list confirms 60:40 split-folding rear seats, a power tailgate, a 12V socket in the boot and roof rails. Omoda Pakistan does not publish boot capacity or ground clearance figures.

Equipment

Only one version is sold: the E5 61 kWh 2WD. According to the official price list it comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, LED fog lights with a cornering function, a power sunroof, a 360-degree camera, parking sensors, dual 12.3-inch screens, an eight-speaker Sony sound system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 50W wireless charging, faux-leather seats, a 6-way power driver seat, a 4-way power passenger seat, ventilated front seats, ambient lighting and dual-zone automatic climate control with rear vents. Safety equipment listed on the official website includes front, side, curtain, driver knee and front-centre airbags, stability and traction control, hill start assist, forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, emergency lane keeping, traffic jam assist, lane change assist, rear cross traffic alert and a driver monitoring system.

Warranty

Omoda Pakistan publishes a vehicle warranty of 6 years or 150,000 km and a battery warranty of 8 years or 160,000 km.

Which variant to buy

With a single variant, the choice comes down to colour. The price list offers white, black, grey and green, with silver marked as limited, all at the same Rs 8,990,000 ex-factory price; freight and transit insurance of Rs 55,000 are charged on top. Our opinion: the E5 makes most sense for buyers who can charge at home and drive mainly within and between nearby cities. It is very well equipped for the money, but buyers who regularly drive long distances away from fast chargers may be better served by a plug-in hybrid.
