The JMEV EV3 is a battery-electric subcompact hatchback imported by Capital Smart Motors (CSM). Both the Comfort and Premium variants use the same 30.24 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery and a 50 kW motor producing 125 Nm, driving the front wheels through a single-speed automatic. The range quoted at launch is 330 km on the Chinese CLTC cycle, while reported WLTP-based figures are lower at around 271 km, so real-world range in Pakistani traffic with the AC running will be noticeably below the headline number. Top speed is limited to 102 km/h and 0–50 km/h is quoted at about 4.5 seconds, which makes clear this is a city car first.
The EV3 uses a CCS2 port for both AC and DC charging. The 3.5 kW onboard AC charger needs roughly seven hours for a full charge, and DC fast charging takes about 42 minutes from 10 to 80 percent. Overnight home charging will suit most owners.
At 3,720 mm long with a 2,390 mm wheelbase, the EV3 is a compact car that is easy to park, and its 170 mm ground clearance should cope with most speed breakers. It is approved for four people, not five, and the boot is a small 177 litres, so it suits daily commuting and small families better than long trips with a lot of luggage.
Both variants get two front airbags, ABS with EBD, stability control, hill start assist, auto hold, tyre pressure monitoring, ISOFIX mounts, blind spot detection, rear parking sensors and a 360-degree camera. Inside there is a 10.1-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 5-inch digital instrument display, wireless phone charging, automatic climate control, keyless entry and 15-inch alloy wheels. The Premium adds the driver-assistance package: adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, traffic jam assist and highway driving assist.
Reported warranty cover is 3 years or 60,000 km on the vehicle and 8 years or 120,000 km on the battery, whichever comes first. A 5-year buyback guarantee has also been reported; ask CSM for the written terms before booking.
In our opinion, the Premium is the better buy. It costs only about Rs 100,000 more than the Comfort but brings the full set of active safety and driver-assistance features, which are rare at this price in Pakistan. The Comfort makes sense only if you will drive almost entirely in slow city traffic, where adaptive cruise control and lane assistance matter less.
