Electric powertrain and battery

The Jaecoo J6 is a fully electric (BEV) compact SUV with no petrol engine. Three versions are sold. The Comfort has a 49.9 kWh battery and the Luxury a 65.6 kWh battery. Both are two-wheel drive with a 135 kW motor producing 220 Nm, and reach 100 km/h in 10.5 seconds. The Premium has a 69.7 kWh battery and an electric four-wheel-drive system with 205 kW (279 hp) and 385 Nm, which brings 0–100 km/h down to 6.5 seconds.

Range and charging

Official NEDC ranges are 329 km for the Comfort, 426 km for the Luxury and 418 km for the Premium. The Premium is rated at 364 km on the stricter WLTP cycle. The official site does not publish charging speeds or times. We suggest asking the dealer about AC and DC charging before buying, especially if you plan long trips outside the big cities.

Size and practicality

The J6 is 4,406 mm long, 1,910 mm wide and 1,715 mm tall, on a 2,715 mm wheelbase. Launch reports give 195 mm of ground clearance. The body is all-aluminium, which Jaecoo says makes it more rigid and resistant to corrosion. The rear seats split 60:40, there is a storage box in the boot, and the powered tailgate opens to the side. In our view, its wide, upright shape gives it more road presence than most compact SUVs.

Equipment by variant

The Comfort and Luxury have the same equipment. They come with 18-inch alloys, LED headlights and tail lights, a 360-degree camera, a panoramic sunroof, roof rails and rain-sensing wipers. Inside are a 9.2-inch digital cluster, a 15.6-inch central touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, voice commands, 50W wireless charging and eight Pioneer speakers. The driver’s seat is 6-way powered and the passenger seat 4-way powered, and both front and rear seats are ventilated. Both also have 64-colour ambient lighting, dual-zone air conditioning with remote control, an auto-dimming mirror, an NFC key and Eco, Normal, Sport and Custom drive modes. Safety includes stability and traction control, hill start assist, parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, blind spot detection, lane change assist, lane departure prevention and rear cross traffic braking. The model page lists front, side, curtain, driver’s knee and front centre airbags.

The Premium adds 19-inch wheels, a 12-speaker Infinity sound system, electric leg support for the front passenger, and extra terrain modes: All-road, Slippery, Beach, Muddy and Bumpy.

Warranty

Jaecoo Pakistan shows a 6-year or 150,000 km warranty, plus an 8-year or 160,000 km cover next to a battery icon. Freight and transit insurance of Rs 55,000 is added to the ex-factory price.

Price and which variant to buy

Ex-factory prices are Rs 8,799,000 (Comfort), Rs 9,899,000 (Luxury) and Rs 10,799,000 (Premium AWD). In our opinion, the Luxury is the best buy. It has the longest official range of the three, costs Rs 900,000 less than the Premium, and has the same equipment as the Comfort. Choose the Premium only if you want AWD performance and the better sound system.
