Riddara RD6

Battery and motors

The Riddara RD6 is a fully electric double-cab pickup sold in Pakistan by Capital Smart Motors (CSM). Both Pakistani variants use a 73 kWh battery and four-wheel drive. According to CSM’s brochure, the Econ has a peak motor output of 280 kW and 485 Nm, reaches 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds and has a NEDC range of 424 km. The Pro steps up to 315 kW and 595 Nm, cuts the 0-100 km/h time to 4.5 seconds and keeps the same 424 km range. DC fast charging is through a CCS2 port at up to 110 kW, which CSM says takes about 30 minutes. Home charging uses a 6.6 kW AC (Type 2) charger and takes about 9.3 hours.

Size and practicality

The RD6 is 5,260 mm long, 1,900 mm wide and 1,880 mm tall, with 225 mm of ground clearance. The cargo bed measures 1,525 x 1,450 x 540 mm, and CSM quotes a loading capacity of up to 1,030 kg. Towing is rated at 2,500 kg for the Econ and 3,000 kg for the Pro. The Pro also adds a 70-litre front trunk and a 48-litre hidden storage box under the rear bench. CSM claims an 815 mm wading depth for the 4WD versions.

Equipment by variant

Both variants get LED headlights, alloy wheels, automatic dual-zone climate control with rear vents, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, stability control, traction control, hill hold, hill descent control, tyre pressure monitoring and a spare tyre. The Econ is the basic version. It has two airbags, fabric/PVC seats, 17-inch wheels, an 8-inch screen, four speakers, conventional cruise control and a standard reversing camera. The Pro adds six airbags, premium leather seats with power adjustment for both front seats, 18-inch wheels, a 10.2-inch digital cluster with a 14.6-inch central screen, Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, eight speakers, a sunroof, roof rails, side steps and a 540-degree camera. It also brings a full driver-assistance pack: adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane keeping and blind spot detection. A 6 kW vehicle-to-load socket in the cargo bed lets you power tools and appliances.

Warranty

CSM’s brochure lists a vehicle warranty of 5 years or 150,000 km and a battery warranty of 8 years or 200,000 km, whichever comes first.

Which variant to buy

Our opinion: at Rs 14,499,000, the Econ suits buyers who mainly want an electric 4×4 work truck. However, it misses most of the safety technology you would expect at this price. The Pro costs Rs 3.5 million more, but it adds four extra airbags, the full driver-assistance suite, vehicle-to-load power and a much better cabin. For family use, the Pro is the variant we would choose. With either version, check fast-charger access on your regular routes before you book, because public charging is still limited outside the big cities.
